I'm soooo tired!

I know I have fallen off the radar screen for the last week, but what can I say - my sis was in town and we just went and went and went.  This was possibly my sister's first and last time in New York City, so we wanted her to experience everything she could in the 4 short days she was here! We did many, many things while she was here and the main one was eat.  I took her to the famous John's pizza, the yummy Peanut Butter Company and to every other tasty restaurant that I could think of that she would enjoy to the fullest extent!  We thankfully walked several miles each day to work off at least our morning granola that we ate before the day got started. We saw the Broadway show "Wicked" and this was a definite highlight.  That show was absolutely amazing and the lead roles "Glenda the good witch" (not really a witch at all) and the Wicked Witch (not really wicked at all) were vocalist extraordinaires and their acting was flawless.  We soooo enjoyed our night out.  At around 10:45 p.m. when the show was over - we walked around Times Square to show her some of the nightlife.  We grabbed a little dinner at Planet Hollywood to polish off the night around 11:45.  We were about ready to fall out of our chairs with exhaustion, so we called it a night and headed back home to our beds.  It was chilly out that night and we couldn't find any subway stations that said "downtown" which was what we needed - so we splurged for a cab and gave up our search after about 20 minutes of looking. One of Kim's highlights was on Sunday when we went into chinatown and were able to be a part of the Chinese New Year celebrations.  They had a dancing dragon, loud music, performers, the handing out of red envelopes (for good luck) and just fun, fun, fun.  My sister is adopting a little girl from China (hopefully within the next year or so), so this was a special treat to get to experience so many of this culture's traditions and spirit.  Very fun day.

One of the craziest things that made me so, so tired after all of our fun and excitement was that my daughter decided to act like a completely different child for most of my sister's visit.  I don't know that I have ever seen that many tantrums, screaming, defiance, disobedience, whininess or crankiness in her whole little life.  She was having an out of body experience this weekend I am sure, but whatever it was - it was exhausting.  She even woke up 2 different nights literally screaming with pain that her foot hurt and therefore kept the theme of loud crying going all through our nights as well.  Still don't know what that was all about, but God bless her, she went back to normal fairly quickly after her "Annie" left this morning.  Either we as the parents change when guests are around and make our children uncomfortable and cranky, or they change and don't like the change in schedule or mom and dad's attention.  It was wild and I hope Aunt Kim still loves her niece and thinks she is sweet.  :-)  HEAVENS!!!

Well, despite the crazies - we had wonderful sister time.  Kim and I love to be completely goofy, totally immature and obnoxious when we are together. These are the moments that keep us connected and strong.  Our husbands would like to pierce their ears with a blunt object when we are together, but they know we are having a fun time!  Tomorrow is a "back to normal" schedule here in New York and we only have about 8 days more of this New York life. We will try to hit as many sites as we can before we go back to Missouri-land.  Sleep tight.  I am super pooped and heading to bed!

I do NOT act goofy, obnoxious or immature. Really, Kara, be careful what you tell these people!
