Disney World or Bust

Ummmmmm...

BUST!

Ha!

So, I know you have all been waiting with much anticipation to hear about our recent trip to Florida to the most Magical Place on Earth.

First of all, let me just say that I didn't have Starbucks - or coffee for that matter - for 4 very long days. I tried one coffee on the Disney property and it was akin to Folgers or Maxwell House or Dirt, so I quickly sipped a few drinks to get warm and then tossed it.

Speaking of freezing - did you know how stinkin' cold it was there? I wore a coat, ear muffs, gloves and a scarf every day we were there. It was supposed to be 68 degrees and was more like 30. The Floridians were even in shock. My legs had goosebumps through most of our days and it rained on my hair more times than I can count. Not a great look for pictures.

Speaking of pictures - my camera broke the day we got there.

Broke.

It no longer works and I have no photos of the trip - only a few from a disposable camera that David was given in his marathon bag that he used during his run. We also had our new Flip video camera that we used for video, but no still shots. Seriously - I wasn't too happy to realize that for this whole amazing trip that was going to have all these amazing memories - not to mention my hubby running his first marathon - wasn't going to be documented in film. Very sad indeed. Let's move on.

Speaking of marathon - My husband rocked!!! Him and his 2 friends enjoyed the run immensely and totally ran the race for fun - not for time. They stopped to see characters along the way and see the entertainment that was waiting for them at various points along the race. His overall time was around 6 hours for the 26.2 miles and he looked so great coming around the corner outside of Epcot heading towards the finish line. Little Girl was cheering "Go Daddy Go!!!" and Baby Boy was doing his own version of screaming. Very sweet. I was so proud of him and seeing him accomplish such a huge goal and for us all to be there with him - was worth all the craziness.

Speaking of crazy - There was a parade that I was told I had to see that they did every day in Disney and we were all prepped in line (front row I might add) and ready for it to start. LG decided she had to go potty and we made a mad dash to the facilities across Main Street. When we came out - the parade had started and we couldn't cross the street and get back to our spot with Daddy and Michael. Tried to hold her up to see the race as best as I could over all the people, but my poor pathetic back couldn't continue bench pressing her 45 lbs of cuteness and I had to put her down. She wasn't happy about it and proceeded to scream and go a little nutso. I felt my eyes tearing up. We missed most of the parade. My vacation was having more disappointments than positives at this point. I was having a pity-party.

Speaking of disappointments - did I tell you it was freezing? Trying to walk at theme parks with a 1 year old and a 4 year old that are completely bundled up and freezing and trying to ride rides that whip the wind through your hair is exciting - let me tell you. I will tell you our favorite rides though - in order of LG - Peter Pan, The Teacups, Dumbo, and the Race Track cars. She was hilarious on this last one because when her and I rode it, we didn't know what to expect because daddy just sent us up there and said we would like it. We are riding in this car like we are in a "test car" and they are testing the brakes and the steering and all this stuff and then it starts cranking up the speed to nearly 60 mph and busts us through these doors and we are outside all of a sudden in the cold flying around like we are on a roller coaster. I was totally thinking she was going to freak out on me and instead she asked to ride it again with daddy. Crazy girl. Baby Boy was smart and stayed asleep in the stroller and skipped the excitement.

Speaking of more excitement - I tried to plan ahead and buy a few gifts for the kids from the Disney outlet store here in town to give to the kids throughout the trip instead of spending hundreds of dollars on stuff there, and guess what.

Forgot them in my dresser drawer where I hid them.

I remembered them as we arrived to the airport.

Speaking of airport - BB doesn't like them. He is not fond of the idea of sitting on his mother's lap for 2 hours at a time and being asked repeatedly to be quiet and quit screaming. He is also fond of pooping on these flights and getting changed in a bathroom on a changing table the size of a dinner plate.

Are you having fun listening to all of this? Ha! Let me end on some positives to round out the Disney drama.

The marathon was awesome!

We ate dinner at a restaurant called T-Rex one night that was filled with dinosaurs that roared and moved and excited my children to pieces. It also was some of the best ribs, chicken, mashed potatoes, baked beans and veggies I have had in a really long time. Such a fun night.

The kids took awesome naps in the room and went to bed easily for us each night.

LG got to go to story time with Belle from Beauty and the Beast at an outside theater and she loved it!

We found a playground one day at Magic Kingdom where the kids played for an hour and a half and each made little buddies there. They were in heaven!

We went to Breakfast with the princesses which was awesome. 4 different princesses came to our table while we ate and spent time with the kids. LG was in awe, but BB was even more in awe. The noises he made and googly eyes he possessed when each one came to our table was priceless. It was definitely a highlight of our trip.

Like I said, I don't have pics, but once my hubby gets back from his short business trip, he will be showing me how to upload the video from our flip camera and I will post some snapshots from our weekend.

I am complaining about our trip for sure because I was hugely disappointed in how so many things turned out, but I am also very blessed. The fact that we were able to even go and pay for it and enjoy the precious moments we did have as a family were wonderful. We are so thrilled that we were able to be there for David and support him in his big day. Life isn't always perfect and things don't always go the way you think - especially when you throw 2 small children in the mix. They LIVE for drama! :-) Ha!

We are home. We survived. And we won't be taking the kids back to Disney with us for another 4 years. Thankyouverymuch.

Watch for some videos in the next 4 or 5 days. Goodnight everybody!

How fun to hear about your trip. You should be able to choose still photos from your flip video, we can on ours. It stinks it was so cold. How fun to see your kids live the fairy tale. I look forward to taking our kids back they don't remember when we took them.

Wow, so sorry about your trip! But so glad you got some great moments as well! I am sure LG will remember those princessy & dinosaur & marathon moments most. Oh and the freezing swim with Dad. Congrats to David! That is awesome! Will look for pics/videos. Now you can give out the pre-bought souvenirs and pretend, I mean, talk about how it was a wonderful family vacation that will never be forgotten. You will soon laugh about the not so perfect moments. Hugs!
