Yes I know that some of you out there (JULIE B.!) get the privilege and joy of having a date night with your hubby every bless-ed week. And it ain't that big of a deal to have one. I know this, because I used to have one too.
Grandma and Papa conveniently lived right up the street and loved taking their precious grand-daughter any old day we wanted.
Well, we moved.
Things have changed.
It's been 2 months.
I need a break!
We have been slow going in the "leaving our child with some random babysitter" department since we moved to Indiana, but last week we tried something out. Our gym has a drop off babysitting service and you only have to pay $6 an hour to use it. It's the same facilities she is used to playing in when mommy and daddy go work out, and she LOVES going.
I wasn't comfortable leaving her with just one of the teenagers that works in there if I was going to actually be OUT of the building, but we have been delighted to find that a sweet Grandma who has 10 grandkids of her own works 3 nights a week, and whaddayouknow, she loves Little Girl and thinks she is Strawberry ice cream.
So, we gave it a whirl last Thursday night and left our pride and joy there to go have a dinner up-the-street at Outback Steakhouse and a quick bit of ice cream afterwards.
It was heaven. There was talking, there was laughing, there were full-blown sentences that were spoken without interruption.
Yeah. Good stuff.
So, we are doing this again tonight. I skipped my workout at the gym this morning and opted to walk with Little Girl in our new neighborhood instead so she wouldn't think that the gym was now her new home. Ya know what I mean? I had a wonderful humid and sweaty walk/jog and got to also see the drywall being finished up in my new home. There were literally like 8 guys in there feverishly working on the interior spaces and they were like beavers. I love beavers. That just means my house is going to be done really fast. Woo! Hoo!
So, a date night tonight is in order and greatly needed. I know this because there have been 2 statements that my daughter has been telling me a lot these past few days (granted - she is a drama queen and enjoys repeating things that have no real bearing on actual reality). One is "You make me sad. hu-hu-hu (this is fake crying) and the other is "Talk nice to me mommy. Talk nice to me."
Well then.
I didn't think I was being that horrible, but the chances are strong I was a bit stressed and have realized that -
I need to go on a date!!

Amen, Josh and I were in need of one of those too. They are few and far between for us. I have to say, thanks to Josh's mom (AKA Mamaw) we are having a date week!! I will admit that I was ready for the girls to come home yesterday and they won't be here until Sat:( I guess I can't have cake and eat it too.
Thanks to you Kara, I found my angel in disguise...Miss Cyndi. It means so much to have someone love your children and take great care of them while you are away. I love love love the fact that Josh and I have date night every single week. We are blessed and we know it.
I know the need for a date night! Unfortunately we don't get one very often either. Hope you have a great evening.
Have an awesome time!
I hate to brag.....but I get like 8days in a couple weeks.....on a cruise ship.......woo hoo.......while the girls will be with Grammy, wearing HER out instead of me! Hope you had a great night.....pretty soon you will REALLY need that date night.....hee hee!
If anybody wants to think bad thoughts about Shannon right now, well, we understand it. The jealousy sometimes can just overtake you!
:-)
Love you girl.
I can't wait to have my hubby on the same continent!!! Less than two weeks!!!
Sounds like a perfect date night plan. Not too much money, and you feel comfortable about where she is. Great idea!
