We moved into our new house on Friday, September 4th and threw our son a fun birthday party at a nearby park on Saturday, September 5th. Let me just take a moment to say that if I didn't have my WHOLE entire family down here helping me move in and do party prep and if I didn't have David's sister make this most amazing monkey cake for BB and my mother-in-law take care of all the food and drink prep for the party, well I just wouldn't have survived - no two ways about that one. Huge shout-out to the family for such a great weekend.
So, the party was complete with sock monkeys, bananas for eating and chicken salad sandwiches for the adults and pb&j for the kids, chips, grapes, monkey lemonade and tea to drink, and of course - monkey cake. We had animal crackers in cups for snacks and I dressed Baby Boy in a Small Paul monkey t-shirt to complete the look for the festivities. Oh and a side note was that I actually made the little monkey cupcakes myself simply because I thought they were cute, but I was sure to keep them far away from the amazing cake that my SIL made for BB, because there simply was no comparison there. The girl made and rolled out her very own modeling chocolate to create that monkey perched on his cake for heaven's sake! I used a box mix and vanilla wafers for mine.
I finished the decorations out with yellow balloons tied to bananas and handed out "monkey munch" (ya know the muddy buddies treat) for favors - along with little dinosaur figurines for all the kids. I know - dinosaurs? at a monkey party? I could find NO monkeys, so the kids got something to put in their hands and make noises with. :-) David also made candy bars for BB like we did for Little Girl that had our last name on the front where you normally see "Hershey's" and the back had all fun facts about BB and his cuteness.
We sang happy birthday to the sweet boy and he cried and reached for mommy in typical BB fashion. He doesn't like when they sing to you at Red Robin either. It basically freaks him out and he can't wait for them to just go away. Funny boy. Guess which picture below is the one of him hating the Red Robin bday song? Ha!
Ok - I shall suspense you no longer. Here's the birthday boy!
I shall return soon with more posts this week. I will try not to be such a stranger. Don't ask for house pics just yet, because I have nothing decorative around here to show for it yet, and I would rather wait until I get all my furniture in. I know all 3 of you are dying to see, but you must be patient. :-) Have a great week.
