David surprised me on Christmas Day with a little Starbucks card holding $10.....and a little note that said it could only be used in New York on December 30th and 31st.
What????
We just celebrated 15 years of marriage this past week and we were already planning a trip in May to go when the weather will be nice and enjoy the city. But, my hubby had some extra miles that needed to get used up, along with some free hotel points since he travels so much and wanted to be spontaneous. We drove the kids to St. Louis and dropped them off with the grandparents and then flew out for our quick 2 day trip. Since we briefly lived there before, we knew right where we wanted to go and couldn't wait to just stroll the city and just be together. The weather was insanely perfect and a light coat was all we needed and some comfy shoes. So much fun!
As soon as we got into town, we were starving. Right outside of our hotel (which was in the beautiful "flower district" and had fresh flowers everywhere along the streets for sale) was a fun little food truck. We grabbed our opportunity to do something fun and enjoyed this little meal.

So authentic and so good.
We pretty much created our own little "food crawl" the whole trip and just ate little bites here and there the whole time. We loved it and I actually never felt stuffed because we spread it out throughout the day. We found a place that had these mini one-bite cupcakes that you kind of "popped" into your mouth and they had about 20 different flavors ranging from cookie dough, mint chocolate chip, egg nog latte and many more. We ordered six tiny little morsels and enjoyed each little bite. Our favorite find was after going to see the movie "New Year's Eve" on Times Square was hopping into a pizza shop at 10:30 at night to grab a slice of pizza. I love that about New York. You can eat amazing food anywhere and anytime. :-)
I got to do a little shopping too. H&M was insane and I didn't get to do any hardcore looking because the lines were crazy. I did land on some really cute Clearance deals at Ann Taylor Loft though - plus, I found the most amazing coat. Score!
All in all it was a great time with David and we enjoyed it so much.
I made some Chocolate Granola Bars for the kids tonight and shared the recipe over at The Recipe Box. We heart them.
Have a great night my friends!
