Cream and Green and brown polka-dots all over

I am on a decorating high right now. Anybody else ever get that way when you complete a room or at least FINALLY establish the "look" you were going for in a room.

Ya know - when the actual picture you had in your head actually shows up in your living space and you think, "well, alrightythen, I may have just done something good here."

I love to decorate. I love to see a grouping or rug or picture or wall color pull a room to life and make it feel warm and inviting. I won't say that it is easy for me, but I do love it and even though it may take me a long time to get there, I ultimately get to feel the pleasure of a "room well done" once I have completed a task.

There is something about a brand-spanking new home that makes this job even more enjoyable somehow and I even got the approval of my 3 year old last week after I had finished putting up some of the final touches. Little Girl walked in the room and looked around with great merriment on her face and said "I like our house mommy! I like how you've decorated!!"

As she walks in to the kitchen - "oh wow mommy! I like this rug! Is it new?"

My mission is complete if I get that kind of response from a person who comes up to my knees. I'm just done.

My momma was in town and added some brown curtains with white polka-dots to my windows to complete the overall new look in the living room. I love it. Now she has to finish sewing the green striped curtains for the kitchen of which I painstakingly decided on just last night after buying scrap piece after scrap piece and tacked it to my window to decide if it was what I really wanted. Bold floral print? Subdued muted tone. Pale Shabby Chic colors? Or do I want to just slap a solid color up that I can change my decor around. Oh the decisions that were belabored and that were ultimately made.

Now if I could just get my mattress off the floor in my bedroom, I will be living like a queen.

Geesh.

I am really happy with my new start in my home decor. Next - on to the body makeover. Lord help me. And you too Weight Watchers.

I have a feeling losing weight won't be half as fun as re-decorating!
