Smoochy Smoochy Love

Sunday was a big day. It was a day of many fun things.

There was church.

There was getting the kids ready by myself (since the hubs is a pastor).

Then there was the eating of breakfast in the car.

There was the nap taking...........

And - it was the celebration of 12 wonderful years of marriage to my strong and manly husband.

Yes - there was lots of smoochy smoochy love on this day (I really am meaning kissing here. Calm down people.) in honor of another year survived co-existing as husband and wife and parents to two of the cutest kids known to man.

They say the 12th year is the year for a traditional gift of "silk". We have never followed the traditional gifts - otherwise I would have gotten paper on January 4th about 12 years ago. No thanks.

David was a saint and had purchased me a little gift a couple of weeks ago. It was complete with a card and mooshy writing and everything. He actually bought me a new workout outfit from Gap Body so that I could look sassy at the gym while I am trying to get fit and trim. He is fully aware that this helps me stay motivated if I look a little better than a ratty t-shirt and fading grey sweatpants.

I on the other hand, kinda, sorta, forgot until late the night before.

Bad wife.

Bad, bad wife.

Thankfully I am married to a man of grace and he brushed it off with a shrug and a kiss saying "it's been crazy honey - don't worry about it. I don't even care."

He is kind. Those are not the EXACT words I would've used if he had been the one to forget.

Anyhoo.

Some wonderful friends of ours heard that it was our anniversary and that we weren't going out, so they offered their services to come over and keep the two angels along with their precious 1 year old son so that we could go out and gorge on The Cheesecake Factory wonderfulness that it is.

We conversed. We ate. We talked some more. And then we ordered cheesecake. We usually split one, but who were we kidding- It was our anniversary and we both are getting back on the weight loss wagon this week, so David ordered the Snickers and I ordered the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie Dough just to be modest. :-)

Ahh. It was a great night. A bless-ed 3 hours of quiet and celebration of marriage.

Isn't funny when you think about how long 13 years is...it seems like forever and yesterday all in the same thought. We'll race you to 50 years! Congrats!

I remember how beautiful your wedding was, and I got to help serve cake. 13 years went fast.

First of all, where else do you eat breakfast besides in the car? Or is that just me? :-)

And second, so glad you were able to sneak away for a few hours and celebrate your 12 years! Congrats!

Seriously......friends offered to watch your kids while you went out? We don't have friends like that! We celebrated our 7-year anniversary last week and we took the girls with us to Steak n Shake (is that the only place we eat?) Maybe we should move to Indy so we have friends to babysit for us (that would be you guys). :-)
