Just a regular day in the life of ME

I have stories to tell my friends.

Stories of things that happen to me and that I have done and experienced that will just knock your socks off. I have humiliated myself and stuck my foot in my mouth more times than I can count.

Life experiences and lessons and practical jokes are never lost on me.

Today was no exception.

I got up this morning and knew that I had to attend BOTH morning services at church and that takes quite the effort with 2 small children. Especially being that the first service begins at 8:30 a.m.

I, being the prudent wife and mother that I am, liking to feed my husband and children quality meals and everything - I decided to put a roast in the crock pot for dinner tonight.

This is a new recipe I wanted to try and although I have done a variation of this recipe in years past, this one looked yummy and had the added bonus of one particular ingredient being - A CAN OF BEER.

If you know me - I ain't a drinker. I cringe having to peruse the alcohol aisle looking sketchy and out of place trying to hunt down the purchase of just one lonely stand alone can of beer.

Awkward.

I refuse to purchase a 6 pack - I don't care how many times I am making this recipe in the next month - I am not having a 6 pack of beer in my fridge.

That just isn't happening.

Sorry to all you gals out there that like a nice glass of wine with your dinner. I'm not judging. I'm really not. It just isn't my thing and I am sure you will thoroughly enjoy my story. :-)

Anyhoo.

I am completely ready for church.

Kids are dressed and looking smashing.

All that needs to be done is to toss the roast into the crockpot with the beef broth, the garlic, the pepperoncini's and the can of Foster's.

I am a rookie at popping the top off of a brewsky. I began to slowly open the blue can when I felt the wet spray of the beer all over my face, shirt and arms.

I had to leave for church in 2 minutes.

I was going to church early because I knew they would be gathering around us in both services to pray over us.

Very close quarters.

Not a great situation to be in smelling like you threw down a couple before heading off to the House of the Lord.

I scrubbed my skin off the best I could to remove said beer smell from my person and hoped for the best.

All I can hope now is that the rumors aren't spreading through the church that I have a drinking problem and that they may need to start praying for us on a continual basis.

Great.

Oh - and a side note . The roast was to die for. I shredded it and put it on a fluffy kaiser roll with cheddar cheese and dipped it in the juice from the crockpot. David and I both loved it.

DEEE-VIIIINE!!!

Here's the recipe if you want to give it a try yourself.

Just don't whip it up before going to church unless you are smarter than me and point the can actually away from yourself. :-)

I am laughing so hard at this for so many reasons! Do they even sell 1 can of beer? Anyways, the thought of a group of people praying around you reeking of beer is hilarious!

On a more serious note....I was praying for you today.
