Father's Day and the Farmer's Market

We had a really great weekend. Saturday was nice because I got up and power-walked with my friend Lindsey and we did 5 miles before 7:30.

I know.

Then, I came home and woke my cute little family and started getting ready for breakfast. I told you that I had made some home-made granola and made up some quick parfaits to take with us to head to the Farmers Market. The kids LOVE these and can eat them everyday. Seriously. I decided to just have that as our meal, because I thought we might see some goodies to snag at the market....and we did.

We bought some organic pork loin roasts to do in the crockpot this weekend - or, some "pig" as the kids prefer to call it. We also found this little start-up bakery called "Farm Girl Bakery" and we "supported" her by buying some chocolate peanut butter chip cookies and an oatmeal cookie whoopie pie with buttercream filling. Wow. I shall return next weekend.

They didn't have any veggies that were screaming at me this go around, but I did find this sweet little bouquet of flowers for only $5 that made me quite happy.

David bought some raw milk from this guy with instructions on how to make butter with this stuff. He came home and he and the kids gave it a try and apparently it turned out great. I have yet to sample it, but I know they had fun making it!

Sunday was a great day too and the kids and I had fun celebrating their Daddy.

These kids love their daddy. He's our superhero. We loved on him with new running socks and running shorts and trail mix and gum for when he travels. :-)

I planned a menu for the week and here is what we will be cooking in our kitchen.

Lasagna
Chocolate Chip Banana Bread
Home-made sausage and cheese pizza
Crock pot pork roast, potatoes and carrots
Cheesy Apple Bacon Stratta & Buttermilk Pancakes

Have a great night!
