I mentioned a couple of days ago that I had discovered a most wonderful new product at Bath & Body Works recently and when I use it - it feels like a true pamper-myself, I'm at a nice, expensive hotel and spa, retreat experience. I ain't lyin' here. I tried this product out at someone's house one day and then put it on the stocking stuffer list from the family for Christmas. I received this magical treat and use it every day with joy and happiness. Aren't you wondering what it is? Is the suspense killing you yet?
drum roll please.
It's Bath & Body Works Stress Relief Hand Soap in "Tranquil Mint" scent. I leave this soap in my kitchen and sometimes I will actually leave the bathroom and wash my hands in there instead so I can enjoy this most awesome fragrance. I am officially addicted to it and will probably now require having one bottle on hand at all times. I wanted to share this awesome little treat with a friend, so here are the rules for this giveaway.
From now until midnight Friday you can leave me a comment to enter yourself in this fun giveaway. I will do a random drawing (not sure how random, but it will be random) for whom this gift should be sent. What I need from you is some spiritual guidance. Yes. That's right. Counsel me girls. Counsel me. Ok. Really what I need is for you to give me a good suggestion for a devotional I can go purchase. I am in all this transition right now. The devotional time is few and far between. I am a busy girl and of course, a busy mother. I don't think I am looking for a Beth Moore study necessarily, even though I love her, because I don't really have time to do that indepth of a study in this season. I am looking for something that will give me some food for every day and some strength to get through these next few months of my life.
So................start sending me your thoughts and I will enter you in the drawing. I will choose my winner on Saturday morning since I hopefully will not be awake at 12:00 a.m. on Friday evening. I will then get your address from you and shoot it on out to you via snail-mail this weekend. I know you will love it girls! Good Luck!!
Thanks for reading and thanks for playing! I look forward to getting some great ideas!

Ooh, ooh, ooh!
Breathe: Creating Space For God in a Hectic Life by Keri Wyatt Kent. I highly recommend it!! I've mentioned it before on my blog, but I think it would be perfect for you right now, especially in such a busy time and a time of a transition. It would give you some good things to consider with your "starting fresh" opportunity.
OK, I'm not just saying this for the obvious reasons (she used to give me a paycheck), but I LOVE Pure Joy by Alicia Britt Chole. Short, succinct readings....extraordinarily deep.
Now, gimme the mint. :)
This is hard...I've recently purchased 2 devotions also. One of them is "Breathe: Creating Space for God in a Hectic Life." It came highly recommended. I haven't finished it yet, it seems good. You can borrow it. I also bought "1 Year Devotions for Moms." Not so good. What has really worked for me recently since I can't seem to "click" with one is the Book of Psalms. Lots of encouragement. It's really "feeding" me and helping get through things day by day. I think I'm reading it again with different eyes.
Okay, Lysa TerKeurst just spoke at a women's retreat I went to. She was amazing. And eventhough I haven't read this book. They ran out & I just haven't gotten it yet. It looks really good. Here is the info. I found it on Lifewaychristianstores.com.
"The Bathtub Is Overflowing But I Feel Drained: How to Defeat Mommy Stress"
Author: Lysa TerKeurst

Overflowing with practical ideas, short Bible studies, and plenty of encouragement, this inspiring resource will help overwhelmed mothers turn to God's grace as their lifeline.
Hey Kara!! Can't wait to win that B&B handsoap!! I love minty fragrances!!
I am on my fourth year of using 'The One Year Praying Through the Bible Devotional Book'. Cheri Fuller is the author for the one I have, but I think there's a new author every year.
I love this devotional because there are 365 short devotionals, one for each day, and they are correlate with the daily Bible reading. There's usually a chapter from the old, one from the new, a Psalm, and then one verse from Proverbs. Sometimes I get to all the Bible reading, and sometimes not, but if you get it in each day, you will have read the Bible through in a year with hardly any effort.
It is great cause you can make it brief by reading the devotional and correlating verse and prayer, or get into the Bible reading to take it deeper...convinced yet?
Hi! I found you through alana's site... can't resist a giveaway, and that stuff sounds right up mah alley!!!
My devo recommendation is an old one that's been modernized but it's so good and deep. Hubby and I read it together sometimes, it sits on his nightstand... it's Morning and Evening by Charles Spurgeon, the one revised by Begg.
My husband and I have used the series from Encountering God before, and he just mentioned that he thought we should start using it again for family devotions. You can click on their site http://scriptureunion.gospelcom.net/catalog.php?product_id=1 for more info, but they are short daily devotionals that include a prayer, Scripture, a short commentary, application, and prayer. By doing the series, you will read through the Old Test once and the New Test twice in 5 years. They have a lot of other resources on their site as well. You can even have the devotional emailed to you daily.
Hope I win...that soap sounds divine.
Hey, Kara Lynn Dawn....
I'm always up for a free giveaway. :)
We use the life journal here in the Aughtmon home. You can get it at the link below
http://www.enewhope.org/firststeps/journaling/
Each morning you read a portion of scripture and use the SOAP method.
You write down the Scripture, Observation, Application and Prayer. It is such an interactive way to soak up scripture. I always get something out of it. I've always had a hard time with being consistent and writing this to you is reminding me I need to go use my life journal right now. :)
Ok Kara, I love a little book "Face to Face" Praying the Scripture for Spiritual Growth, by Kenneth Boa. I have found it to be a great companion to Bible Reading!Check it out!
You gals are awesome. Thanks for all the devotional advice. I am excited about the giveaway. David is being coerced to be my "random" person to do the drawing for the winner. Excuse me for a minute while I take a whif of my hands with the minty fresh scent that only Bath and Body Works can bring! :-)
If you enjoy Beth Moore - she has two (she might have more but I have only seen two) 90 day devotionals. One is on Jesus and one is on David. I am working through the one on Jesus now. It is not as intense as her homework for bible studies. There is scripture to read, usually two questions, and then she has a page or so of writing and then a space to journal prayers.
um...ok, it's 11:34pm Friday and I'm feeling the pressure.....I just ran into my bedroom and grabbed all the devotionals I've bought since becoming a mom.......The Busy Mom's Guide to Prayer, Grace for the Race: Meditations for Busy Moms, Breathe: Creating space for God in a hectic life, Just give me a little piece of quiet: 60 mini retreats for a mom's soul, Lessons for a super mom, and Yada Yada: A devotional Journal for Moms.......but I can't really recommend any of them because I haven't actually read any of them. I see a devotional for busy moms and I can't help but buy it, but then I get too busy......so please borrow all of these and let me know which one is the best so I can just read that one.......whew, it is 11:48 now and I made it! And I'm feeling convicted for saying I'm too busy for a devotion book....so I think I should win the soap because everytime I wash my hands with it I will be reminded to read my devotion and you will be credited in heaven for helping a friend with her devotional life.........oh, I gotta go, it's 11:53.
