(Sarcasm begins now)
I am convinced that the best part about being a mom is the puke and the poopies. These are by far my favorite two things to deal with. And, if you happen to get them combined it is literally like a lottery winning experience!!!
I am in Indy right now in our hotel with all the lights out and listening to Little girl ask me over and over what I am doing and why I am awake. David is also in the dark on his computer and we are both trying to look busy and ignore the constant questions. Sharing a room with a toddler at night rocks!
Our drive to Indy was easy and non-eventful the whole first 6 hours. Only 2 more to go and we are home free. This is where the fun began. Little girl said her tummy hurt and not 5 minutes later the smell confirmed what she had said. She didn't feel well and needed to do the old #2. It was of the normal nature - not to be too graphic, so we thought - ok. Next, we stopped at Cracker barrel for a bite of some old country cookin' and she is leaning over the table to play a game with her daddy. Not moments before I was laughing at her little plumber's crack which was showing in the back of her jeans and then David says, "hey- what's wrong? Why are you looking like that?" I look down and a fountain of poo is erupting out of the (thankfully) pull-up that we had put on her for the road trip. I immediately jerked her up and flew us to the bathroom where I was not only fighting off the smells of my own child's situation, but the woman in the stall next to me was not at her best either! GROSS! So - I get her cleaned up and get it off my pants (awesome!) and head back in to the restaurant. We eat very quickly only to have one more explosion before we leave the restaurant. We hit the road and pray the pattern will end, but we have 2 more moments of glory before we get to our hotel. I get her up to our room and think that surely she is emptied out at this point and I should give her a bath. I put her on the potty for one more try and she starts that whiny, grab your stomach, not good situation dance, and I quickly grab a trash can which so graciously receives her vomit several different times in the next few moments. Whew! Dodged that bullet of having to clean up a floor. I clean her up and throw her in the tub and in about a minute I hear "Uh-Oh Mommy" and the diarrhea has come back in full force at a most in-opportune moment. I drain the tub. Call housekeeping. Clean the Tub. And Repeat. Hep' me Lord! David is all the while gone at the local CVS trying to find us some more pull-ups since we had went through so many. After the second bath Little girl says she feels better and I believe she truly did and we slept blissfully through the night until morning. She has only been a little sickly today, but for the most part a real trooper and a very good girl. I am praying for her to be completely better by Sunday because we are really anxious for her to get to try out the new church and meet some new friends. (Yes- I have high social expectations of my 2 1/2 year old. Sorry. it's in my blood.) She LOVES, LOVES, LOVES going to church and I really want her to have a good experience this week. We have been house hunting since we got here and the prospects have been a little scary. To be honest- we met with a builder today and are now considering building. Once you have had a custom house, I guess, it's hard to look at other people's stuff. I know. We are spoiled. I'm aware of this. I hate the idea of 6 months of apartment living, but I hate the idea even more of living in a house that I don't care for and doesn't meet our needs for the long haul. We are still keeping our options open this weekend, but I think we are heading this way.
I hope you enjoyed a good old-fashioned mom's story of her child's poo and vomit that is only exciting to herself and probably should never be shared with others - especially over the internet. Sorry to those of you whom I've already shared this news on the phone. I just had to get it out there and share our first couple of days in Indiana. No Shannon. This is not a sign. :-) I hope you all have a great weekend. And to all the midwesterners - I hope it stops raining! For heaven's sake!

Reagan is finally over her 10 days of diarrhea and it sounds like she got rid of it only to give it to Makenna. I hope it doesn't last 10 days for Makenna (not as much as you hope, I'm sure)! By the way, I don't think Makenna will appreciate this story on the internet when she is older. :-) When you said you might build, I was hoping that meant you'll stay in Nixa until your house is done! C'mon, just 6 more months!
I know - seriously. Makenna keeps saying today that she wants to see her "very best friend Reagan" today. I keep telling her that Reagan is in Missouri and she is in Indianapolis. She is confused and wants to know Why. It's no fun to separate the girls or their mommies! :-)
Oh, that is just terrible. I'm so sorry. I hope things are looking up for you soon.
By the way we always stop at Cracker Barrel on trips ;-)
Oh, poor Makenna...and poor you. If not for the grace of God I'm not sure how moms could do it sometimes.
Thank goodness I skipped out on that playdate! Whew! Ha! Hope you and Makenna are doing better. It's bad enough when that kind of thing happens at home, but on a roadtrip...well, that's a whole other story!
Wow - that's a great story. Another jewel in your crown, Kara!
I clicked over to your site after seeing those magic words, "giveaway" in the comments section of Alana's blog. Well, I just spent about a 1/2 hour reading through some of your posts. I have a 13 mo daughter and we have yet to experience a sickness that would warrant this title, but I know it will come....
I really enjoyed my time here. Your writing style is very engaging and fun. I hope you don't mind if I stop by again...
