The last treat of the day was my friend Julie. Not only did she have her son pick out a little gift for Makenna and send it to us so we would have something to receive in the mail (such a cute little toy that we enjoyed opening up on our rainy afternoon today), but I was able to have a nice long "girlfriend" chat with her on the phone today. Nothing earth-shattering. Nothing Crazy. It was just the gift of friendship, of encouragement, of Godly wisdom and faith-building across the phone lines from New York to Missouri. Friends are the cornerstone of our lives as women. I don't know how anyone functions without them. I don't know how I would make it through any day without having a friend to care about or one that cares about me. Thank you Lord for my friends and thank you especially today for Julie. You have brought her into my life for this very specific season and she may never know what her words and her thought and care have meant to me in my life right now. Proverbs 27:17 "As iron sharpens iron...." - this is the kind of friend she is. Go love on your girlfriends this week. Lift them up. Send them a handwritten note. Buy them a Starbucks. Do something out of the blue for them that will make their day. This is the coolest kind of friend!

Cappuccino, Peanut Butter & Awesome Friends
Today was a rainy, wet day in New York City. No play dates today. Only the cleaning of ones tiny apartment and lots and lots of laundry (I have to do like 10 loads a day since my stackable washer and dryer only hold like 4 items at a time!). We did manage a couple of quick jaunts around the city though during those dry couple of moments throughout our day. One adventure was a simple walk to pick up our umbrella that David and I left at our salon last night. Makenna was able to dress in her galoshes, rain coat and kitty cat umbrella and walk down the street with a spring in her step. I have added pictures to my blog to share with you the joy that she experienced in this small adventure. We also went out to dinner tonight with David's dad and another friend and here are the yummies that we consumed: John's Pizza. If you know New York pizza - you know John's is one of the best. Second, we went to the place that actually invented the cappuccino machine. They claim to make the best cappuccino around, and I tried it and would have to agree. Our last stop off was to go to "The Peanut Butter Company" for dessert. Let me just tell you girls that if you like Peanut Butter at all - you would love this place! They have PB BLT's, Fluffernutter sandwiches with marshmallow cream, fiery spicy PB and turkey sandwiches and of course, every PB dessert you can think of. We tried the Chocolate PB Pie and it was nothing short of a heavenly high-caloric intake experience! YUMMY!! Makenna couldn't stop smacking her lips with joy and saying "MMMMMMMMM" over and over! They make their own organic, natural peanut butter in a bunch of different flavors and it's just plain good. Thankfully we walked to all of these places as to minimize the impact of their tastiness on my hips and thighs!

It was so awesome to actually get to have a conversation with you yesterday without our 3 little monkies screaming in the background. You are a true blessing and such an amazing friend. God is looking down upon NY and smiling at the work you are doing there.
BTW...Won't some of that PB Chocolate cake make it back to MO?
Miss you guys!
Julie B.
I will work on a Peanut Butter smuggle-in situation for you! :-) Get your self ready, because you will need to work out double time after you eat it's creamy goodness!!! :-)
Ok, thanks for making me hungry.....I'm trying to go to bed tonight without snacking. Our Pizza Hut dinner was not as good as John's Pizza, I know that! Makenna looks so cute with her umbrella and rain gear! I enjoy reading your blogs before I go to bed at night. It's much more fun than doing all the work that is waiting for me. Can't wait to see you.....thanks for being a special friend! I'm glad God brought you into my life.
Shannon - I'm glad my blog sends you off to dreamland some evenings! I'm sorry I am creating cravings for you. I am actually making myself hungry right now too. I have been eating pretty good, however, I am currently in this state of wanting to anything sugary and/or savory in sight! Yikes! Maybe it's the peanut butter chocolate pie.......I better be careful or there might be a lot more of me for you to see when I get back H-O-M-E. See how I did that? Not in-town. Home. I can't wait to see you!
Kara~ can we be blog buddies? Julie gave me your blog so I read you everyday (:
Love the pictures of Makenna. She is such an adorable little girl.
Sounds like you are having quite the adventures in New York. Maybe we can do another playdate when you get home.

Amber - Thank you so much for checking out and reading my blog! I would love to be blogging buddies! How fun is that?!!! I want to check out yours too. Julie was going to send me the link, but I think she forgot. I get home on Jan. 31st and would love for the 3 of us to have some playdate time together. Maybe we could all hit the mall and let Makenna and I check out the new play area. Let's make a plan! Thanks for sending me a note. I hope you and Anna are doing great! I saw her Christmas photos by the way and all I can say is.......ADORABLE!!
