So, I say we had three successes because Makenna absolutely adored her 2 new classes this week. Stories and Songs is every Monday and a different musician comes in to sing and play with the kids and they get to jump around and sing silly songs and play with instruments and Makenna went bazookoo for this! Tumbling class yesterday was also a hit because she was mastering skills very quickly just in her first week and I really loved her teacher! The last hoorah moment was of course, my blind dates. I met 2 other moms at Barnes & Noble with their little kiddos - very nice girls. Then, we all walked over to the park to meet some of the other HRP Mamas from the online group. I met about 10 other mothers at the park that day and it was so cool. Who would've guessed you can move into a city like NY and meet 12 other moms and start setting up play dates in your first few weeks? I already have met again with one of the moms for lunch in the park yesterday and another one is going to help me set up a play group for 2 year olds. I feel like the Lord is helping me and that he is guiding me. I can't say that I LOVE NY yet or that I want God to say this is where He wants us, but I can say that He is giving me things. Here and there. Day by day. Helping me grow. Teaching me what it means to be light in a dark world (I don't know if I knew how to even do this in Springfield, MO) and leaning on Him for wisdom and discernment in all my new relationships. Oh! And One More Success girlfriends - I got a haircut yesterday. It doesn't look terrible and it only cost me $80 for a trim. Now that's a success! :-) You can laugh now.

Three Successes down....only 300 million more to go
In New York, there are so many cool things to do. There are museums and art schools and music classes and tumbling groups and swim clubs and theaters and, and........the lists are endless. And, I am only naming stuff I know for toddlers. However, the obstacles at times to get to these things are also endless. The weather is not just an inconvenience, it can be a down-right deal breaker in the city. Makenna and I went out to walk to tumbling class yesterday and I kid you not, the wind got so fierce at one point, that I wasn't even really doing the walking (or should I say running) the wind was shoving us down this hill, and then when I turned the corner - we were blowing crazily sideways as Makenna kept squeeling "Woah! mommy! Woah! It was nuts!

I knew it! Reagan and I have been replaced by your "new New York mommy friends" (did you hear my high pitched voice)?
Ok, that's really cool that you're meeting new friends in your new home that you're gonna live in forever. (I'm just preparing myself). I hope you can really connect with some of them and that Makenna makes some great friends (not as great as Reagan of course). :)
Hey, I got a haircut too, except mine was $80 for a cut AND highlight! :)
love ya and miss ya!
Did you really post that at 5:35am, Kara???
Lora Batterson
Oh My Word - No!!! I have no idea why it clocked me at that time? I think the rest of my times were right on my entries, but No, I definitely wrote this one around 7:30 this morning. :-) Thanks for sayin' hey today! I'm getting ready to make Sue's chocolate chip scones. Want one? :-)
Shannon - We love you!!! You will always be a dear friend to me. Give those girls of yours a big kiss from us! Oh.....and quit bragging about your cheap haircut! :-)
I hope that $80 trim came with dinner and a movie! I'm very excited for you getting this chance to experience all that you are in NY. Soak it up! I'm praying that your time with your new friends (even if only brief)leaves an indelible footprint in the hearts of your new friends; one that points them to Him.
Christie - Great to hear from you! Thanks for the encouragement. God is definitely doing a work in my heart and I pray He does a work in the people around me - even if it's only for this season of 2008. Take care. Your blogs are awesome!
I want a scone!
Yikes! $80 for a haircut! But sounds like the playgroups & classes are going well.
Funny that you said on my blog that you wanted to learn how to post pics in your posts. I was wondering how you posted them on the side. I haven't played with it that much yet either.
love ya!
Don't worry. I will make you scones and anything you want if you come visit me on President's Day!!! I hope it works out!
