Every year I host some type of Easter Egg Hunt for the kids here at the house along with a couple of other families. I love it because it has become tradition, the kids look forward to it, we always have good food, and the weather has usually turned out to be perfect.
I still remember the video that David made last year of the festivities.
Tear. Jerker.
This year was just as fun and look at all the food we had.

I didn't get a picture of all the protein or the sides, but we also had chicken salad sandwiches, bbq meatballs, strawberry pretzel salad and deviled eggs. Zero vegetables. I'm not sure how this happened, but hey, did you see the fruit kebobs? Julie did awesome. The little squares with the white frosting are called no-bake graham cracker bars and they have a pecan pie type of filling throughout the middle. This is my mom's long-time recipe and they were so yummy. I will be sharing soon over at The Recipe Box - don't worry.
The weather was chilly in the morning, but it turned out pretty nice by the time 4:00 rolled around. Here are the kids "on the hunt".

And Here's a pic I snapped of Julie, because well, she's just cute like that.

We also had our lifegroup meeting this weekend and it was a great time being together as a group. Almost all the clan was there (minus the lovely Lopez family) and the kids played and played and played outside on our trampoline until around 8:30. I loved it.
We finished the weekend up by all of us girls talking about running and marathons and exercise and all that jazz. David encouraged us that there are a lot of people who just walk the whole marathon (and the half-marathon) and it got us kind of motivated that we could do it and not have all the "making great time" pressure that goes with trying to run the whole thing. I know we will run some, but even just walking it would be a fun accomplishment and doing it together is even better. So, we signed up that night and are getting our tennies ready for a workout. The race is in November, so we have lots of time to get our tails in great shape.
Well, I just polished off a grande decaf cinnamon dulce latte that my husband picked up for me tonight while we took the kids on a drive. Our goal was to take them on a walk, but when we went out the weather was cold and Baby Boy has a terrible cough and now a fever. Lovely. My sister and baby Cooper are supposed to be coming in town tomorrow, and I think my kids get sick every single time we try to see them this past year. Oh my word. So......., we opted for the drive which was quite relaxing.
On a final note, my friend Rheagan's funeral is tomorrow. My heart is with her family and all those who loved her. I know it will be a day of great memories and remembering all of her beauty as a person. I wish I could go. I wonder if she will be looking down to observe all the people who are coming to honor her. I can only imagine the crowd will be large......
Have a great night my friends. Try to stay out of the Easter candy. I personally polished off some Reese's peanut butter eggs, a few tootsie rolls and who knows what else that was laying out on the cabinet from the kids getting into it. I can't believe they are going to church Saturday to get MORE candy for another hunt. Help! Stay in control. This is all I can offer in the form of advice. Maybe I'll try to do the same. :-)
