Blackberry Craze and Menu Monday

Yes. I just named my post "Menu Monday" because I like to feel fancy and stuff. I would actually declare every Monday this name on my blog, but I realize that some weeks get forgotten and then I would feel guilty if it had a name and everything and I didn't deliver. So, I will just name my Monday posts all willy-nilly and trust that you will go with it because I know you love me. I'm pretty sure you do at least. Julie - you and Danina love me. Hi Danina. :-)

Anyhoo.

I mentioned last week that I was going to make a couple of Blackberry recipes. I made one "Crumble" and one "Cobbler" to do a little taste comparison. I blogged the recipes over at The Recipe Box. We were in a blackberry stooper by Sunday night. It's not a bad thing either. :-)

Here's a couple of pictures to make you hungry.

And, can I just say something else food-related? (don't I always?) - My hubby took Baby Boy out on Saturday for some guy time while Little Girl and I went to a girly birthday party complete with giggles and whispers and drama and tears and hugging and snuggling of stuffed animals and cake and ice cream. A typical girl party. :-) Well, while the boys were out, David took BB to the Bistro downtown and purchased them a simple (European style) lunch of a baguette, some sliced deli meat and sliced salami and a round of cheese. The boys found a table and ate happily on their perfect little lunch. Well, he got me craving this and we went to the new Bistro market area at a more local Price Cutter grocery store and we all got the same thing for our Sunday afternoon eating festivities. I added a salad from the salad bar too which was quite yummy. It all was SO GOOD. The kids loved it. It wasn't a heavy lunch and it was really cheap. It will be on my list for picnic lunches this summer. Eezy-peezy.

The next 3 days in my home will involve 4 service guys ripping things out of my closets, cutting holes in the ceiling and replacing our 2 a/c units (2 story house) Our units are 26 years old and they have decided to say "UNCLE!". Little Girl's room also has been a hassle because only her room will make her freeze in the Winter and Sweat in the Summer. Poor thing. We are fixing that too - thus the ceiling hole cutting. Yay! We are believing for our Tax Refund to pay for all this fun spending (yeah right) and we are waiting to hear what the deal is (they haven't given it to us yet because they are still reviewing it. How scary!) But - you can't be without air in 100 degree weather, so we are moving forward and believing all will work out. God will be faithful.

SO, be prepared to hear about our a/c saga this week. Hold onto your seats. I know you are.

In other news, a city close to ours got hit terribly by a tornado yesterday. I can't tell you how thankful I am that we are all safe, but feel saddened by this city that has such great devastation. Please pray for the families that lost people and for the community to be rebuilt quickly.

I made my weekly menu for our first full week of Summer Break with the kids. C'mon pool time!! You will see a couple of repeats from last week because we never got to them. I always underestimate the power of leftover nights. Here we go.

Taco Salad with shaved corn on the cob and Trader Joe's Salsa Verde
Salmon, Veggies and baked potato
Creamy Caprese Pasta - I am making this tonight. I am so excited! I will post it if it's a good one!
CPK's Barbecue Chicken Pizza
Peanut Butter Cup Brownies- Mmm.Hmmmm.

Have a great week!

Thanks for the shout out! I'd love to do some "market research" for you sometime. I love to bake, but we don't have enough taste-testers. Would you be interested in some inter-active blogging?
