Early Birthday, Hurt Back & Sunshine

My parents came in town this past weekend and it was packed full of fun. The kids had a blast being with Grammy and Papa and I think they wanted to wrestle and play with them about 75% of the time. Saturday was our busiest day and it started out with our 5K run that morning. The weather was much cooler than we anticipated, but once we started running - it actually felt great.

We met up at a big arena downtown and carb-ed up with bagels and coffee before and after the race.

Don't you just love the no makeup look? I feel purty.

David was in an interesting mood that morning, but I told him this wasn't where his number was supposed to go.

Here's the starting line

I only stopped to walk a couple of really short times and ran the rest, which I felt really great about. It felt harder than the other ones I've done and I am waiting to hear our official time. We didn't have phones or watches with us, so they will send us our time from our chips on our shoes. It was really fun!!

We got home and showered and got ready to take the kids to a movie. Little Girl and I had already seen Tangled once, but we've actually never taken Baby Boy to the theater before, so since it was at the Dollar movies, we all loaded up to go watch it together.

Here's LG's face when we told her we were going.

I think the movie is very cute, however, I am still one of those people that are leery of strange story lines. And, Daddy did not love the fact that it was based on a baby being stolen from her loving parents home and raised by an evil woman whom the innocent child calls mother her whole life and was deceived by until she turned 18. Call us crazy, but we struggle with this message for a 5 year old to absorb.

Any-who.

After we watched our movie and scarfed down popcorn and m&m's snuck in by mommy, we headed back to the house. We put BB down for a nap and my mom, LG and I headed to the mall to do a little shopping for Easter stuff. My mom bought the kids some things and then we got back to get ready for Dave and I to leave for my Early Birthday date. My official birthday isn't until Wednesday, but my parents came down early to let us go celebrate.

We went out to dinner and ate some amazing Italian food and then we headed downtown to The Cup to have these beauties.

I had the chocolate spice cake with mocha icing.

and Dave got the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup

We didn't keep it light in any respect to calories, so I am determined to be a really good girl this week. I mean it. Really. :-)

We ended the weekend with me tossing something into the trash and throwing my back out and into a painful spasm. I have been cocked to the side since yesterday and am in sufficient pain when I walk or move. Fun. My lovely friend Julie has the kids for me today and took them out for a fun day at the zoo. I am so thankful for my awesome friends. I am on my back right now with a heating pad and my computer. I plan to be here until she returns my kids to me.

On a final note to this really long post, I made some Easy Chicken Tacos in the crockpot the other night and am sharing the recipe over at The Recipe Box.

Have a great sunshine-y week!
